This research investigates the inclusion of Psychology of Religion (PR) courses or crosscutting topics related to PR in the training of psychologists at faith-based higher education institutions in the State of São Paulo. A documentary analysis of course syllabi and teaching plans will be carried out, in addition to applying questionnaires and conducting interviews with professors and students to map their knowledge, perceptions, and perceived gaps on the subject. A comparison with recent research will complemente the analysis. The project seeks to stimulate curricular reflections and promote professionals more attuned to the religious and spiritual dimensions of their future clients, thus contributing to more culturally contextualized and effective psychological practices. Based on analyses of this author’s previous research, was revealed some inconsistencies in the Psychology studants responses collected. Although the vast majority of participants agreed that psychology and religion do not mix and that religious topics should not be intertwined with psychology, the same percentage believes that faith and religion should be considered in the therapeutic process of the individual, and an even larger percentage agrees that faith and religion influence human thinking. Most students believe it is not essential for the subject to be addressed during their undergraduate studies or that it has not been relevant in their personal experience, while the portion of respondents who have taken one or more courses related to the study of faith and religion consider themselves fully prepared to handle these topics in professional settings.
