The aim of the research was to analyze significant tools for the study of religiosity. A total of seven tools were studied and compared – both Polish and foreign. These tools examine various dimensions of religiosity, from general attitudes towards religion and God (PCBS Post-Critical Belief Scale), through the level of religiosity and its impact on everyday life (SIBS questionnaire) and religious decisions, as well as the bond with the community of believers (the integral-developmental model of religiosity of Walesa). The authors also analyze tests used to examine a specific religious practice, which is prayer (Prayer Importance Scale), as well as the diversity of religious experiences (Religious Experience Style Scale). The authors showed the differences and similarities in the substantive scopes and research goals of the analyzed tools, drew attention to the relationship between the construction of the tools and their purpose, and also referred to the research practice in which the discussed tools were used. The presented exploration proves that there are still significant gaps in the described research area, for example in such areas as the study of youth religiosity, the scope of institutional and private religiosity, or the inability to capture the ongoing social changes in real time.
